Now booming in popularity and range, the India Pale Ale was originally created to supply the British Raj stationed in India with a steady supply of beer. The beer typically consumed in England at the time did not survive the long, treacherous journey around South Africa’s Cape. The solution was to hop the beer much more heavily and brew to a higher density than a regular Pale Ale, producing a very robust, aromatic hoppy Ale.

The West Coast of the U.S has not only adopted this style but also transformed it into a new breed. Native Hop varieties such as Cascade and Centennial sourced from the Pacific Northwest are combined with higher density and alcohol contents to create a new and unique experience.
