Saison & Farmhouse Beer Tasting, Friday July 5th

Saison & Farmhouse beers are traditional, seasonal beers originally brewed as a restorative and refreshment for the farm workers in the province of Hainaut, in the French-speaking part of Belgium.   After a decline in popularity, the style has seen a huge resurgence in recent years with many brewers in the U.S. adding at least one example to their repertoire.

Defining the style is a distinctive golden bronze color, expressive herbal aromas and a very crisp, firm mouth-feel.  Examples vary from light and floral to more earthy intense styles, often with the use of Brettanomyces – a yeast strain when used in moderation that produces a distinctive, earthy character to the beer.

This week we will be sampling a wide selection of Saison & Farmhouse beers, contrasting the traditional Belgian beers with examples from the U.S and beyond.

Try all nine of these great Saison & Farmhouse beers for $5 this Friday July 5th.
